Solid Waste
Solid Waste, or as most people call it trash or garbage, people in the UK call it refuse or rubbish, these things are items we use everyday that we end up throwing out because they are broken no good or they're not needed anymore. Solid waste includes paper, glass, metals, fabrics, batteries, Electronics, Hazardous wastes.
There are 4 characteristics of waste they are corrosive which are an acid or a base , ignitability can be flammable , reactive waste can be explosive toxic gases , and toxicity which are very harmful or even fatal if ingested. . there is also 4 types of waste non hazardous which is basic garbage or trash , Hazardous waste which is chemicals or things like pesticides , Radioactive waste which can be high level or low level radioactive waste , Mixed waste which is organic radioactive liquid waste.

How Solid Waste affects our environment.
Solid waste can harm the way of life, the chemicals and toxins in garbage can pollute our air it can damage the ground and water nearby, Solid waste takes up a lot of space in our landfills. Waste is taking up large amounts of space due to the large number of population on this planet.
Reducing Solid Waste.
Reducing the amount of solid waste involves using less materials in the manufacturing of things that take up lots of space in the landfill. Canada reduces there amount of solid waste by using what they call the 3 R's Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Below there is a circle showing reducing reusing and recycling, there is a pie chart showing the different kinds of solid waste, a poster promoting recycling.
1) Solid waste has always been because of human activity
2) Some people are concerned by solid waste in Canada because of how it is affects the environment
3) Each Canadian astonishing 2.2 kilograms of waste each day.
4) 30 million tones of waste in total each year.
